This unit talked all about materials, authentic materials which are things we can find anywhere, like newspapers, magazines, books, articles, TV shows, publicity, commercials... and Non-authentic which are designed specifically to aid the teacher, or to help in teaching a class, both are good to use. A mixture of both is the best. That way you can create specific exercises that you wish to cover in class but also you can give the students the freedom to bring their own materials to share with the class and talk about. Lesson planning is important because if can give you direction, and helps you have a background of themes that have already been taught, they also guide you in case you get off track.
