The difference between the two lessons was dramatic. As a native English speaker, I at times had trouble understanding the first lesson due to the teacher’s lack of instruction and his low voice. The second lesson was more fast-paced and clearer. The contrast between the lessons shows the need for teachers to build rapport with their students and to find ways to instruct and encourage. The teacher in the second lesson seemed happier and more comfortable, and as a result, the students were more comfortable and likely to participate. The teacher in the second lesson also took time to explain activities and concepts while in the first lesson, he did not clearly answer the questions students asked.
