Again, the concept of not using native language was touched on in this unit. But I also learned how to deal with large classes, as I have quite a few. Since I am the main teacher, I often find it difficult to control 50 kids. Doing pair work or having leaders for group activities is a good idea. The activities to use when dealing with reluctant students was also helpful, because in Japan, especially with girls, there is a lot of reluctancy to participate in class. I never force them, but try to use positive reinforcement to allow them to associate good feelings with learning English. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these units and feel that each one has helped me immensely in my teaching experience.
