In this unit I learnt about the importance of receptive skills (reading and listening) for students who are learning a new language. Also that when use receptive skills we do this for either a purpose or entertainment but sometimes can be both. Including the skills associated with how we read and listen, predicting, scanning, skimming etc. What to consider when selecting materials and tasks and problems with these. Such as whether these topics will engage the students interests, and careful selection of authentic or non-authentic materials to enhance students receptive skills. This unit has helped me to understand my own receptive skills and further increase my English teaching knowledge for students.
