Unit 14 talks about course books and lesson materials. Course books are beneficial to use because they are tried and tested before publication. Likewise, course books may provide good ideas among inexperienced teachers. In contrast, the contents of the course books may not be appropriate to the learning needs of the students. Lesson materials can be authentic or created. The former are not suitable for students who are learning English as a second language, but they can be interesting because since they are about anything a native speaker would hear or read. On the other hand, created materials encourage teachers to be more creative. Likewise, the materials become suitable and appropriate among learners.
