Managing a classroom well means that a teacher must be flexible and be able to change their role in the class based on the present activity. It is important to always encourage equal participation from all members of the class. Classroom arrangement is important and depends on class size and how the teacher wishes to conduct the class overall. Groupings for activities should be varied but encourage and promote student talk time as much as possible. Maintaining discipline is largely up to the teacher, who must always be prepared, confident, fair and consistent. Establishing rapport among the class is vital and can be achieved by remaining positive, enjoying the work and showing an interest in every student.
