This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Learning the system and structure of past tenses was very helpful, particularly as I am starting to see the similarities across continuous forms, perfect forms, and perfect continuous forms. I think that it will be most difficult to explain the different usages of the forms because I’m so used to just speaking and using the form that seems most appropriate as a native speaker. It’s been very useful to learn the usages because it also helps me apply it to my language learning from the past like French and Spanish. It’s helpful to know what forms to use for specific situations such as interrupted past action or a completed past action rather than simply trying to teach through sentence examples.
