It is important to review previous lessons continuously as the course progress because learning more advanced concepts in English grammar depends on a firm foundation in the basics. I can foresee students struggling greatly with how to differentiate between the phrasal verbs, for example. What I found useful in differentiating between the phrasal verbs types was rearranging the sentences, replacing object nouns with pronouns, and seeing if the changed sentences would still satisfy the grammatical rules of each type of verbal phase. In order for students to do that as well, they must gain a thorough understanding of the basic grammar that would enable them to engage with the language in such a critical manner.
