It discusses what type of ESA lesson format may be most appropriate for coverage of each: straight-arrow ESA lesson for vocabulary and ESA “boomerang†and “patchwork†lessons for grammar and language functions. It lists what elements of language are most important for students to know: meaning, use, pronunciation, spelling, interaction, forms, appropriateness, etc. I found the example lessons helpful for thinking about the practical application of this information. I also appreciated the criteria (appropriateness to the students and task, frequency and coverage, and teachability) for selecting vocabulary.
