This unit focused on how to effectively manage and run a classroom. Good eye contact, gesturing when appropriate, and voice fluctuations all contribute to what makes a successful and engaging teacher. The unit also covered the various benefits and disadvantages of the different ways teachers can group students for activities: whole-class grouping, pair-work, individual-work, etc... Even the arrangement of the desks in the classroom can create different environments and give the class a whole different feel to the learning experience. The unit ended by stressing the importance of balancing teacher talk time and student talk time in order to more effectively establish rapport and efficiently get through the lesson.
