This unit provided me with a better understanding of what a classroom should be. I enjoyed the pragmatic approach with the provision of input regarding what to do, as well as how to handle certain situations that may transpire in the classroom. I reflected on the various times in my lectures when there was an increased amount of teacher talk time, which created an imbalance with the students’ ability to stay focused in the lesson. Moreover, one of my main concerns regarding teaching a classroom of students is the matter of having to discipline them. It was comforting to learn about how to prevent behaviour problems among students, as well as understanding where these behaviour problems may have derived from.
