In unit 12 I learned about the productive skills, speaking and writing. It was interesting to read that writing gets neglected in the classroom due to it being seen as a quiet time activity. It was also interesting to read the different factors that go into writing such as handwriting, spelling and punctuation. I liked that the unit gave the reader different examples of speaking activities and it separated it by categorizes. It also told the reader if it was accuracy or fluency based. It makes sense that accuracy is focused in the engage phase and fluency is focused in the activate phase. The unit also discussed why students can be disengaged and how the teacher needs to make the classroom a comfortable atmosphere.
