A \"good\" teacher should be able to step into many different roles and sometimes multiple roles at the same time. The same can be said for the qualities of a \"good\" teacher. One must be able to ascertain which qualities and roles are needed at any point in time during a class. There are many more language levels than the basic beginner, intermediate, and advanced that I was familiar with. It was also interesting to read about the different motivations between young and adult learners. I didn't realize before that the amount and quality of previous learning experiences could influence their ability to adjust to different teaching styles. I believe that the motivation to learn any new language is pretty universal.
