In this unit we learned about a few specific topics: 1. What makes a good teacher. 2. Different roles the teacher can take on in the classroom. 3. Students and their motivations. 4. Fluency levels and how to classify them. I really enjoyed learning about each of these things both through the reading and the video. Something that I realized and deepened my understanding in was the motivations that students can bring. I loved looking at each age level individually and breaking down their reasons for both taking the class and for general motivations in life. For example, in the video I was learning about how adolescent students have more apprehension due to peer pressure. Overall, it was a really enjoyable first unit.
