This unit was about the parts of speech in the English language, and it described how each part functions in a sentence and in relation to the other parts of speech. As a native English speaker, none of the things discussed in this unit were new to me, but it is always good to review some of the grammar functions that I use unconsciously. I did come across a few unfamiliar terms, however, that served to label grammar functions that I know how to use; for instance, “comparative and superlative adjectives,†“transitive and intransitive verbs,†some of the categories of adverbs, etc. This unit was a good review for me, as it’s been many years since I’ve had a proper English grammar lesson.
