This unit covers lesson preparation and the purpose and logic of preparing written lesson plans. It shows examples of typical lesson plans and provides a template for lesson plans as well as a possible self-evaluation template. I feel that the unit gave me a good understanding of why it is important to have a written plan. I can see that it is potentially important for self-reference and as a reference for eventual replacement teachers to understand what has been covered, but I see it as more important, particularly for inexperienced teachers, as a tool to aid lesson preparation, ensuring use of ESA techniques, and as an aid to organising time in order to get through the learning objectives during a specific course.
