Unit # 1 is an introduction to the course of teaching business English. Thus, the unit discusses some of the general terminology teachers will come across as a teacher teaching English for a specific purposes (ESP), and the unit provides an outline of the topics the course will cover to include teachers and learners, teaching adults, groups, and individuals, reading, writing, speaking and listening, an overview of the teaching methodologies, needs analysis, syllabus design, and end of course assessment of students. The unit also discusses, among other things, authentic and non-authentic materials, designing non-authentic materials, lesson planning, book resources, using the internet in search of training materials.
