This unit made me realize that evaluation and assessment are extensively important. I figured that indeed it is necessary for a teacher to provide placement and diagnostic tests before the student starts learning the course; progress tests provide both the teacher and the student data to monitor the student's development; and finally, achievement tests evaluate whether the student achieved the learning objectives of the course or not.
Moreover, in the perspective of learning English, assessments are also essential in one's daily life especially in checking his/her capacity to live in an English-speaking country and work there. These assessments can help him/her decide if his/her English skills are good enough or not.
