This unit is all about the receptive skills that are listening and reading. A lot of the concepts taught in this module, I felt, were pretty obvious. This could be because I use a lot of these techniques in my lessons anyway with First Language Speakers of English. The information on scanning and skimming is interesting, mainly because it gives 'titles' to concepts I was familiar with already. When it comes to pre-teaching vocabulary, this is a really good idea, as I wouldn't want any students to feel overwhelmed. I remember studying German and seeing a text filled with unfamiliar words and I just panicked! Hopefully I will not make these mistakes when I actually get a chance to teach English to foreign learners.
