Unit 13 gives an overview of teaching pronunciation and phonology. Out of all the units yet studied, this one has personally been the most imformative and useful as it is an area that I had previously not yet applied to my English teaching. Understanding intonation, stress, articulation and pronunciation in more detail, in addition to ideas on how to teach each of theses areas, has enabled me to be more aware of issues my students are facing in acquiring a new language. I am better equipped to be able to assist the students to develop their skills. The introduction of the phonemic alphabet has also helped to differentiate the different kinds of sounds in English when I am teaching pronunciation of words to my students.
