Evaluation and testing can help teachers and students to know what areas are strengths and what areas may need more attention. Placement tests are often given before the start of a class to inform the school what level each student should be placed in. Diagnostic tests aid teachers in knowing the level of the students in their class before preparing a curriculum. Progress tests help teachers understand what the students are understanding and retaining throughout the term. Sometimes it will be required by the school to give more comprehensive tests at the ends of terms. There are many external tests that students may need to prepare for that will be internationally recognized for University admission or employment.
