This unit discussed two of the four very important basic skills in learning any language. The four in totality are reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The two discussed in this unit were the receptive skills - reading and listening. The text mentioned how reading can be easier to learners of a new language as the text would remain constant for the learner to return to time and again. In contrast, listening can be more challenging for a learner as once the phrase or word is said, it must be repeated for the learner to return to it. There are ways this can be reconciled in the classroom, though. This unit also gave some great examples of how to capture the interest of every student, throughout time, while teaching.
