Unit 6 focuses on the system and structure of past tenses. These include the past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous tenses. It also touches briefly on regular and irregular verbs.
In my experience, I've found that students have most issues with the definition and structure of sentences containing the past perfect, and past perfect continuous tenses. These both particularly can be very confusing and challenging for non-native English speaking students to understand, identify or distinguish. There are clear and concise examples given for each form of the past tense in this unit, and I may keep a printed copy of this unit in my classroom for use as a quick source for reference and examples.
