Authentic material can be used to provide more motivating and interesting material because they are real. By using authentic material students can gain confidence when they understand them. They can be geared to the interests of the student group. Created materials are usually created by the teacher and used to supplement course book material. Created material can be graded to language level. A course book has both advantages and disadvantages for both the student and the teacher. One advantage is that is provides a structured syllabus for a teacher to develope a lesson plan from. A disadvantage can be that the book is written for a general audience and may not provide interesting or motivating material for the students.
