This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was helpful for learning the technical process behind pronunciation. I often use phonetic spelling in my students' native language to help them with pronunciation and I have found that it is quite usual. I spend a lot a lot of time trying g to teach them which types of letters make which sounds and when they change sounds according to letters they are paired with. I try to be mindful that intonation can be different in other languages, so I think it's important for student to learn early on what kind of intonation to use according to what they are trying to express. I've never Houghton to use nonsense words or phrases while teaching. That is something I will think about in the future as it seems interesting.
