Usually the teachers are not lucky enough to choose the book they will work with, but they are able to modify it, omit the unnecessary material and replace it with smth more useful and up to date. This is where the authentic materials come into play.
The teacher though needs to be very careful when choosing these materials as they need to be geared to the interests of his or her students and their English level. They can prove to be very beneficial as the students are not only engaged, but they can increase their confidence understanding that they are capable of dealing with th ‘real’ language.
