This unit covered troubleshooting techniques for teaching students. I learned from this unit that teachers need to readjust their techniques according to the type of lesson or student needs. In first lessons with students, the focus will be more on building rapport, discovering the students, and their wishes and goals for learning English. During 'warmer' sessions at the start of lessons, the emphasis should be creating a positive mood to start the class and engage students to actively participate. I found the section on dealing with different levels of students informative, because I have encountered this problem in the past. The recommendations of using different materials, tasks and pairing up students were most useful.
