This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
With teaching past tense to students, one must consider the native language of the students in question. For example, Japanese only has one past tense and makes no distinction between past continuous, past simple, etc. For a student learning the past tense, it might be difficult to distinguish between the nuances of each tense. Using story telling as a way to learn the different forms of the past tense is a great idea. Especially when discerning between past simple and past continuous. Another activity idea might be having students make a timeline of their lives. For example, \"I played soccer for 5 years. I began classes at this university.\" Etc. This tense is very important, as it is used very frequently in conversation.
