This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I felt this unit was a helpful summary of most of the units. It runs through tips for the first day of teaching such as establishing rapport, doing some warmer exercises, or social exercises to get to the students and their needs. The unit talks about being mindful of different skill levels and how to modify class time the most efficiently. For example, pairing stronger students with the weaker ones, carrying a notepad as you walk around and observe and be available to students. Worksheets and choral repetition are great for large groups. And the unit covers tips on how to pace in a classroom with students that have difficulty with listening texts. I like the \"common sense\" rule, to go at the pace of the majority of the class.
