This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, we discussed the important distinctions with the past tense. Simple past tense is the basic conjugation of verbs to indicate this action happened. Yet, the more nuanced we make the sentence, the more it reveals about that activity. A past continuous form indicates a past progression of the action, this allows us to stress ongoing nature of the action and the actor. Past perfect form allows us to indicate that the action is done, it is a completed action or thought. Lastly, past perfect continuous emphasizes the action itself and focuses our attention on what is being done. These tools allow the proficient English speaker (and writer) to plumb the depths of great literature and to fully articulate one's own thoughts.
