This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, it was helpful to keep in mind that my students will most likely be working towards a goal, such as preparing to pass an external exam. Therefore, my testing and evaluation will need to dynamic, thoughtful and honest. In this unit, I learned the difference between memorization tests and knowledge tests and how it can be tricky finding the right test for the needs of my students that are not biased towards one or the other. While I believe progress exams are helpful, I know that testing should be cumulative because that shows retention more than just memorizing what is necessary to do well on a quiz (tutorial) from week to week. I think this is why it is important for students to be able to write paragraphs on tests.
