I can confidently say that as a teacher, lesson planning is one of my weaknesses. I'm always unsure of exactly how I want the lesson to go, and I think I need to spend more time reviewing the Engage-Study-Activate models, as I'm still having trouble remembering what activities are elicited from what specific phase. But after seeing the lesson plan example, I have a better idea of how to plan, especially knowing to keep it simple! Especially with older grades, I'm more compelled to try to fit a lot of stuff in and meet the homeroom teacher's expectations by making it a fairly detailed class, and I think that has been making it harder for me to lead an effective, smooth class. So I will use this unit for reference a lot from now on.
