This unit shed light on the importance of writing and speaking, which are not simply integral classroom tools but also extremely useful ways for teachers to witness the progress of their students. A students spoken and written words, grammar, pronunciation, etc. can really tell us a lot about where they are in their learning process, and can show us places where we can improve. I appreciated learning the distinction between accuracy-focused activities and fluency-focused activities, and where each on fits in a lesson plan. Also, seeing the examples of lesson structures and the way they deliver the main goal of the lesson continues to serve as very useful information for me as I continue to round out my knowledge of lesson planning.
