Teaching receptive skills (reading & listening) was the topic of this unit 11. Being an avid reader, I found this unit fascinating because I have not really thought about the different reasons for which we read and listen. It also was helpful to be reminded of the significance of both when integrating an ESL lesson. In addition, I found the list of specialist skills to be intriguing when thinking about how I read and when/what/how topics I choose to read on a daily basis. This can also be beneficial when creating reading articles for my own students. Lastly, my lack of understanding \"authentic vs. non-authentic\" texts led me to do further research to help me better grasp these two terms. This unit was one of my favorites thus far!
