As someone who has participated in language exchanges over the years with students from many different countries and even as an English language learner myself, I know that pronunciation definitely presents a challenge for English language learners. As the unit mentioned, a large part of the confusion is due to the difference between the way words are spelled in English and their pronunciation. Therefore, as a teacher, I know that it is crucial that I try to help my students practice and improve their pronunciation through various methods and activities. The IPA chart, visual diagrams and different teaching techniques provided in this unit will definitely aid me when I am in the classroom in accomplishing my pronunciation objectives.
