I have learnt that there are 5 skills for reading : predictive skills, scanning, scanning, read for detailed information and deductive reading. As a teacher, it is good to impart these 5 skills to students because they come in handy in all situations. I find the solution of pre-teaching difficult vocabulary to students very helpful as I have done that in my own lessons. It is essential to clarify difficult words to beginners in order that they will not be turned off by the language. In addition, it is of utmost important to choose tasks and topics which are interesting. I enjoyed the example of patchwork ESA as it is a fun and interesting lesson plan.As a teacher, I will often find good activities to engage my students' pre-knowledge.
