When I learned a language I thought that reading and writing went together and speaking and listening. I assumed that speaking and listening went together because they are forms of communication but I learned in this unit that reading and listening are teamed up to make receptive skills. There are two reasons that we read and listen and they are for a purpose and for entertainment. For a purpose we do these things because we have an end goal we're looking to complete whether it's instructions on how to do something. For entertainment, we do these things because we want to and enjoy them. The brain and mind is the core center of how we read and listen because we have to recognize and understand words and also make meaning of them.
