There are various rules and parts of grammar one must be able to teach properly. Nouns, verbs, articles, gerunds, adjectives and other parts of grammar are much more nuanced than what we may realize using English in daily conversations. Understanding different sub-categories of grammar help establish overall comprehension of the English language. However, one can't solely rely on rules and categories. We must also be able to properly convey where grammar rules are inapplicable and must simply be memorized. From general rules such as how to make an adjective an adverb to more complicated rules such as how to properly describe items, these rules can be fluid and confusing for English learners and must be taught properly for true fluency.
