This unit provides information on how to teach and introduce new language to students. Focus is given to three important aspects which are: vocabulary, grammar and language functions.
Here the previously considered ESA methods are blended in to show how to effectively target the three aspects and an example of a typical lesson using different techniques is given for each aspect. Flexibility is needed on the teacher’s part because much will depend on the class.
Before planning lessons, I think it is important to give thought to what makes it difficult or easy for a particular group of students to learn a vocabulary item, which points I should consider in selecting vocabulary and what the students need to know about new language item.
