I have learned that a great teacher is someone who cares most about the students' learning. A teacher must be able to correct students with patience, to motivate them by considering why they are taking the course, to entertain students to help them to stay focused, to focus on needs of individual students and help them in their particular weaknesses, and overall to create an environment that gives learners motivation and confidence in the language. I also learned that students' needs can vary depending on what part of the world they live in, their age, their language level, and their prior learning experiences. All of these things need to be taken into account when teaching so that the teacher can be most effective in helping the students.
