The first unit of this CTEYL course is an introduction to the material that will be introduced throughout the course. This unit gives an overview of the topics that will be introduced in the following units as well as the aims and objectives of the course as a whole. This unit provides a very succinct list of acronyms relating to the teaching of English, such as ELT (English Language Teaching), ESP (English for Specific Purposes), and L1/L2 (Native Language/Second Language). This unit also gives a brief overview of career opportunities for teaching young learners, such as teaching in a language school or teaching privately. From this unit, I learned several acronyms I was not aware of, and I will keep the aims and objectives of this course in mind as I continue the rest of the units.
