They help the teacher track where the students are in the scope and sequence of the themes of skills. Lesson plans helps teachers to organize their thoughts, and materials. Plans help the teachers focus on the main objectives of the lesson. Lesson plans can also be a great place to reflect on the lesson. How effective was the lesson? Who understood the concepts? Who still needs help with the concepts?
The lesson plan can be as detailed or as open as the teacher needs it to be. It is a good idea to at least have the objectives, to keep the lesson focused. It is also a good idea to list the activities, materials needed, and the length of time needed for the activities.
