Technology in the classroom is wonderful when used appropriately. The technology should never be the focal point of a lesson. It should be a tool to facilitate the subject being taught. Using CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, and video cameras can create more interest in a lesson. They should not be used for every lesson or they can lose their effectiveness. Teachers must be comfortable with the technology they are using and always have a back up plan in place should something happen to the equipment. Visual aids are another resource teachers have at their disposal. Visual aids can be real objects, photographs, or hand drawn. They can often communicate an idea more effectively than a verbal explanation could.
