I have learned so much really. The verb tenses and conditional sections were very valuable to me, as I really needed the review of all these facets of english that we native-speakers rarely think of or talk about in passing. Some of the assignments were difficult for me, as I was very rusty about many of these things. However, I feel I made a lot of progress in all areas that I was weak in. I believe this course will also help me as I embark upon my second Master's degree I am starting online from USC (University of Southern California), in their TESOL program this summer.
As far as the teaching part is concerned, I am a teacher now, although, not an ESL teacher. I believe it will be similar to any of the english teaching I have done, only this time it will be with non-native speakers. This course has prepared me for this big step or 'jump off' if you will. This summer I plan to return to Turkey and become a full-time ESL teacher. I will of course need the certification that this TEFL course will provide me with, and with that in hand I plan to spend a good deal of time over in Turkey trying to teach as positively and effectively as I can. I really want to put my all into teaching english to speakers of Turkish, and I know I can do it. This TEFL course has given me the tools which I need to carry out my plan, and I am very thankful for this.
