This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have learned a lot about the english language that I never really learnt at school, or have long since forgotten, in the process of doing this course.
I am a flute teacher, which is a practical subject, so I have never done lesson plans before. This was something which was a big learning curve for me. The lesson plans certainly do make you think about what you are going to cover in the class and what your objectives and long term goals are.
I have also learnt a lot of practical tips to help with managing a class full of students, and the difficulties and problems I might encounter in teaching a large class.
The advice about tailoring the course to the students’ interests and ways of engaging the students so that they are eager to learn and participate is very helpful and will assist me in hopefully having students who are keen and enthusiastic about attending my classes.
I hope to use the certificate in TEFL to assist me in obtaining work overseas, particularly in Europe/France. I would like to go over to France to live and work for a while. I could also use it as a base for further travel around Europe.
I feel that the course was comprehensive and covered a wide range of topics which will help me to become a competent and confident english teacher.
