Observed Teaching Practice Certification Courses
At International TEFL and TESOL training (ITTT), we have over the course of many years introduced new standards of training and new material to the TEFL/TESOL industry. For example, many teachers say they are unable to attend a training centre to obtain Observed Teaching Practice (OTP). We have reacted to this problem by creating a new course that removes the travel aspect of obtaining OTP certification.
30-Hour Course & 50-Hour Course
The course comes with either 6-hours of OTP (30-hour certificate) or 12-hours of OTP (50-hour certificate), and covers three main areas in a logical sequence starting with lesson planning, lesson feedback and lesson evaluation. The second and third phases involve both the teaching practice itself and an interview style summary over Skype. Both courses may be used with a previous grammar related certificate to give the full certification required by most employers worldwide.
The 3 Phases of an OTP Course
- The first phase develops an awareness of and practice in the uses of lesson planning, feedback techniques, self evaluation and video as a training tool.
- In the second phase participants demonstrate through the actual teaching of real ELLs (English Language Learners) their skills and abilities as teachers over a range of student levels and topics.
- The final phase is where participants prepare for a series of interview-style questions on the topics covered throughout the course and a Skype interview is conducted.
How OTP Courses Work
The fact that the course is completed online and without any special materials or equipment, makes it a very cost-effective way to obtain OTP certification. All work submitted on the course will receive feedback from a highly experienced trainer who will guide your OTP to ensure as smooth an experience as possible. The course is available to anyone with a current online TEFL/TESOL certificate that involves at least 100 hours of study and includes a grammar component. This certificate need not be from ITTT.
