South Korea’s capital Seoul is a thriving modern city with a population of 11 million people. One of the world’s most dynamic cities, Seoul is home to some of the largest technology companies in the world. Despite its present day skyline being dominated by gleaming, glass clad skyscrapers; the city is also home to ancient neighborhoods that are a testament to its long and fascinating history.

One of the major attractions of Seoul to TESOL teachers from around the world is the low cost of living that allows a high living standard no matter where in the city you choose to live.

Seoul is also a cosmopolitan city with a large foreign population of over 700,000. International districts such as Itaewon and Hannam cater to foreign residents but there is always the opportunity to experience true Korean culture. Many excellent restaurants enable you to sample the delights of Korean cuisine throughout the city and you will be spoiled for choice during your time here.

The city’s transportation network is excellent and the subway or KTX bullet train enable you to travel around Seoul or further afield with relative ease. Nowhere in the country is more than a few hours away from the capital city.

Although big, Seoul is never intimidating. It is one of the safest cities in Asia and Koreans are keen for international visitors to have a positive experience while in Korea. Additionally, when setting yourself up here, you will find that important services such as utility companies employ English speaking staff to help with organizing the important things when moving into an apartment.

The School

The TESOL training school is located north of the Han River close to the historic neighbourhood of Bukcheon and the Grand Gyunbok Palalce. Nearby you will find the Cheonggyecheon River area which is a newly redeveloped stream that serves as a delightful recreation area. Other attractions in the locality include an artisan market, street food markets and restaurants.

Getting to the rest of the city from the training center is relatively easy with two subway stops nearby. We are also open seven days a week and there is a café on the first floor which is ideal for grabbing a coffee on a break or for doing some lesson planning while getting some refreshments.

Our experienced trainers will do all they can to guide your though your course and help you to become confident teachers of English. You will study teaching methodologies, classroom management, lesson planning and more, plus you will get to observe experienced teachers giving classes to real students. At the training center we have a large collection of resources that are available to you throughout your course.

Accommodation

There are options for each budget close to the centre and no more than a fifteen minute bus or subway ride away.

1. Shared House

Price range: approx $10 per night
Great for those renting on a budget, the shared house option has lower initial and monthly costs compared to standard apartments or hotels.

2. Guesthouses $30 per night

Guesthouses can be found close to the training center and offer either Korean style accommodation or more western style bedrooms with private bathrooms. Many include a basic breakfast and some offer dinner.

3. AIRBNB

Price range: approx $30 per night
Airbnb offers a large number rental choices; such as rooms or apartments within a varying price range.

4. Business Hotels/Designer Hotels

Price range: approx $60 per night

You can find a number of business or designer hotels in the area around the training center. These are generally reasonably priced and offer a cleaner and more comfortable accommodation option.

5. High End Hotels

Price range: approx $90 per night
For those looking for a more comfortable stay, hotels such as the Hyatt, Hilton and Sheraton are also available.
